Introducing Funaokayama Shimizu, an example of Architect / Design office facility architecture in 4-59 Takanoizumicho, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture by In-Ex Design Co., Ltd..
In-Ex Design Co., Ltd.
At the foot of Funaokayama, you are welcomed by a storefront clad in black iron plates.
Following the iron plate pathway leads to an entrance door made of ash wood.
The interior is finished exclusively with ash wood, cement, and mortar.
This is a Japanese cuisine restaurant located near the northern approach to Funaokayama. From the initial hearing with the client, who is also a chef, we envisioned creating an interior space reminiscent of a cave. In a service environment focused on savoring seasonal ingredients in their purest form, no ornate decoration is necessary; the experience is intended to be simple yet unadulterated, allowing the essence to be felt directly. The space is composed solely of mortar, ash wood, and stainless steel. I feel that the initial intuition and the actual space have been connected in a straightforward and cohesive design.
