Located in the suburbs of Tama, this project involved rebuilding a mixed-use residence with an attached pharmacy business operated by the previous generation. The site extends broadly from north to south. Initially, a courtyard-type integrated building was considered; however, due to geomantic considerations, the design was revised to separate the site into two buildings: the main house and the mixed-use residential and commercial building. As a result, this plan successfully maintains an appropriate balance between work and private life. The main house features a single-story hip roof with wide eaves, creating a dignified and substantial presence. In contrast, the commercial building employs a gable roof with the façade accentuated to achieve a light and dynamic design. The interior design incorporates natural materials, emphasizing a clean and warm spatial atmosphere. We hope that this locally rooted establishment will continue to contribute as one of the town’s distinctive charms.
