A residence distinguished by a minimalist exterior. This is a newly built custom house in Dainichi-chō, Moriguchi City, Osaka Prefecture. The client purchased a lot in a location with good access to Dainichi subway station and commissioned us for design and construction supervision. The site is located at the end of a cul-de-sac. Within a neighborhood of closely spaced houses, the plan was developed with a strong focus on privacy.
The house is a two-story timber structure with a double-height void. In response to the surrounding context, openings on the external elevations have been kept to a minimum. Daylighting is provided by a skylight above the void, delivering natural light to the first-floor living/dining/kitchen (LDK) space. Careful attention was paid to building systems and equipment, including kitchen and washroom fixtures, a continuous 24-hour ventilation system, and photovoltaic panels. The house accommodates a family of four. From here, a wonderful life begins.
