Introducing DROP ON LEAF, a custom-built home example by JYU ARCHITECT, a Architect / Design office in 2-19-19 Nakane, Meguro-ku, Tokyo

This residence is equipped with a whole-house air-conditioning system powered by solar energy. The building’s form is carefully adjusted in a courtyard house configuration to enhance privacy while ensuring ample natural daylight penetration.

The variations in floor levels and ceiling heights along the circulation paths, combined with the interplay of shadows created by openings placed at different positions, generate a variety of spatial experiences within the home. The single-story detached wing functions as an acoustic and reading room, where rainwater is designed to fall directly rather than being collected by gutters, allowing residents to enjoy the ambiance even on rainy days.

From the second floor, the view extends westward to Mount Fuji. The approach from the road has been thoughtfully designed to mitigate the site’s level differences, enabling a covered transition from the garage to the entrance that protects occupants from rain during inclement weather.
