The site is located on a gently elevated sloping plot in the Minami ward of Sakai City, within a neighborhood of generously spaced houses. Taking advantage of the excellent southeast views, the plan was arranged in an L-shaped configuration with a terrace on the southeast side.
To respect the stringent north-side diagonal-plane regulations while maintaining building volume — and given the site is 1.5 m higher than the adjacent road — the L-shaped interior was organized into two distinct volumes: a black northern box with a large pitched roof and a white-walled western box. These two volumes are linked by level changes to form an overall split-level composition.
Exploiting the site’s level differences, a partially sunken music room and parking at street level are provided, while the private zones are consolidated a half-storey above and stacked. At the uppermost level a generous open space is arranged combining a living room with expansive views and an elevated tatami area, creating a unified, spacious interior.
