House Living with the Sky|Archiplace
A simple, modern home designed for a couple in their 30s and their child.
To create a rich spatial experience within the constraints of the limited site, part of the house was built as a semi-basement, with a two-story timber structure stacked above it. Connecting the semi-basement to the loft with split-level floors creates a home in which views and natural light expand three-dimensionally.
The LDK, at the heart of the home, flows seamlessly into a deck terrace enclosed by walls on the south side. Free from concern about the eyes of neighbors, this outdoor space brings the sky, light, and breeze close at hand, adding a sense of spaciousness and richness to everyday life.
The varied places to spend time created by changes in floor level, together with efficient household circulation, create an environment in which each family member can enjoy their own comfortable space while still sensing the presence of the others.
With its terrace opening toward the sky and its split-level floors, this home brings light and breezes throughout the entire house.
