Introducing Tsujido House, a custom-built home example by Takayoshi Nakamura Architects & Associates, a Architect / Design office in 4-26-27 Utsukushigaoka, Aoba-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa

Located on a corner lot in a residential area adjoining a shopping street not far from Tsujido Station, this house is characterized by striking wooden exterior joinery connecting the LDK to the double-height space and loft. Although compact, the house features a double-height space linking the first-floor LDK with the second floor, as well as a loft above it connected to the children’s room, creating a three-dimensional spatial composition. This approach secures sufficient floor area within the permitted floor-area ratio while bringing light and air throughout the house and creating a sense of openness and spatial expansiveness.

While open in character, the layout carefully considers circulation and privacy. The south side of the LDK is organized as an open space with the double-height area and staircase, yet from the entrance it is possible to access the kitchen through the storage room, the wet areas, and the second floor without crossing through the living room. The loft also provides flexibility for future needs. The extensive use of wood as a finish, both inside and out, gives the house an overall soft and gentle atmosphere, while tile accents add a stylish character and visual variation. The first-floor deck on the south side screens the wet areas and living room from the outside, creating a space where residents can enjoy the outdoors while maintaining privacy.
