A house built on a 100-square-meter site along Kyoto’s Takano River, overlooking the Matsugasaki Hills. Under the stringent restrictions of a Special Scenic District, the project sought to secure the maximum possible floor area while creating a sense of spatial expansiveness. By drawing on the structural characteristics of reinforced concrete, wood, and steel, the integrated structural framework receives wind, light, sound, and the surrounding landscape, creating inhabitable zones between inside and outside and proposing a way of living that gently connects the city with nature.
