This compact 26-tsubo (approximately 86 square meters) residence is situated on a flag-lot in Kashiwa City. Surrounded by neighboring houses, the design adopts a second-floor living room layout to maximize natural light penetration.
The windows facing the balcony are cleverly angled with walls leaning towards the street side, enhancing privacy by limiting visibility from adjacent houses. The exterior features mortar-finished siding, and by exposing the beams and columns, the house achieves a warm ambiance despite its otherwise minimalist and inorganic material palette.
Amid rising material costs complicating budget management, cost-saving measures were implemented wherever feasible, including encouraging DIY work for certain elements, to effectively control construction expenses.
