Introducing Slope House Designed for Two Large Dogs, a custom-built home example by JYU ARCHITECT, a Architect / Design office in 2-19-19 Nakane, Meguro-ku, Tokyo

This residence features a slope designed specifically for two large dogs. The beloved pets can move between floors without using stairs, accessing even the rooftop via the gentle incline of the slope.

Typically, replacing stairs with a slope requires adhering to legally mandated gentle gradients, resulting in slopes that are four to five times longer than a conventional staircase.

Such extended circulation paths not only lengthen human movement routes considerably but also increase the building's floor area, directly impacting construction costs.

In this project, a staircase was deliberately incorporated alongside the slope, allowing the dogs to navigate a steeper, climbable incline while providing humans with a more comfortable gentle-gradient staircase. This dual solution effectively minimizes the floor area consumed by the slope’s circulation, realizing the dream of a functional slope within standard construction budgets.

From a structural standpoint, the design elevates the seismic resistance rating and incorporates vibration control systems to withstand repeated major earthquakes. Site area: 365.04 m² (110.42 tsubo)
