This renovation transforms the client’s childhood home into a two-generation residence by welcoming the client’s mother to live together.
The 40-year-old wooden structure was found to be in excellent condition, likely due to meticulous original construction. Except for relocating some columns and replacing certain beams, the existing framework was largely preserved and reused, with effective seismic reinforcement integrated into the design.
The garden, originally created by the client’s father, was maintained with careful pruning, fostering a dialogue between the historic garden landscape and the new interior spaces. This project respects the old while embracing new moments in time.
