This project involved the reconstruction of the playroom and gymnasium to enhance seismic resilience. The buildings are constructed of wood to create an environment imbued with the natural aroma of timber, where children can spend their days comfortably. To minimize the visual scale of these two large spaces, each facility is designed as a single-story structure. The gymnasium is strategically positioned on a sloped site to maximize the efficient use of the limited land. The beams used in the playroom are assembled from small timber members typically employed in residential construction, collectively forming a vast open space. It is our hope that one day visitors will appreciate how these modest elements collaborate to create a grand spatial experience.
