Episode

The site is located along a street connected to the station, which also serves as a school route for an elementary school, with many pedestrians passing by during walks. Although adjacent to a shopping mall, it faces a green space and is not densely built up, making it an ideal location for the building to communicate something to the community.

The director had a strong vision to create an open facility that not only functions as a medical institution protecting and maintaining pet health but also promotes a lifestyle where people and pets live healthily together. This includes fostering connections among pet owners and mutual understanding between those who have pets and those who do not, thereby engaging the community through daily care.

Planning

A distinctive feature of this animal hospital is its open and transparent layout of the back-of-house areas (examination, treatment, and administrative zones) designed to facilitate communication among staff for the accurate provision of advanced care. Emphasis was placed not only on enhancing teamwork among staff but also on maintaining openness toward the exterior. Moreover, for staff who perform continuous tasks under tension and heavy responsibility, the environment allows them to work comfortably while experiencing the passage of the day through views of trees and natural light from the windows.

The planning of this animal hospital centered on the following objectives:

1) To maximize the advantage of a location with high pedestrian traffic by openly sharing knowledge about veterinary medicine and care with the local community, establishing the hospital as a hub for regional contribution.

2) To provide comprehensive facilities and equipment capable of delivering advanced medical care, with transparency.

3) To create a healthy workspace where employees can perform at their best.
