• FEDL undertakes architectural design across Japan across a broad range of building types.
  
  For every project, our objective is to design everyday environments that support people’s lives and enable the full utilization of a building, and to create experiences—often perceived unconsciously—that make life feel more enriched.
  
  Although we have many built examples, if distinctive design qualities appear in each, that was not our initial intent. What we aim to create are well-considered spaces and buildings that serve human activity.
  
  In today’s fast-changing world, with abundant information, architectural practice must account for far more factors than in the past, making it difficult for any one individual to cover everything. We listen closely to our clients and, in integrating site specificity, programmatic requirements and client wishes, share the supporting technologies and design ideas within our team. Through the involvement of many people and ongoing dialogue with clients throughout the design process, a singular architectural form gradually takes shape.
  
  In our work we are particularly dedicated to considering how natural light, color and vegetation are treated within a space. At the same time, we give careful attention to spatial elements such as artificial lighting and acoustics. Both sets of considerations are essential to fulfilling sensory comfort and are central to our design approach.
  
  Regarding thermal comfort and energy design, there is no single method to apply to every building; we compare and select among new technologies, traditional lived wisdom for comfortable living and passive design strategies, and adopt a balance suited to each project and client.
  
  FEDL also frequently takes on projects on challenging sites and with complex programs, and we have often experienced that constraints and difficulty can paradoxically lead to better architecture. We pursue integrated design in which gardens, interiors, and sometimes landscape or graphic design relate organically to one another to produce synergistic effects within the space.

  Drawing on extensive experience in residential, multi-family housing, commercial buildings, corporate offices, and retail architecture, renovation, and interior design, we provide comprehensive planning and consultation for all types of requests. We also respond to preliminary consultations at vague stages, including asset utilization and regional revitalization initiatives.

• Service area: Seven prefectures: Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba, Tokyo, and Kanagawa.
