Renovation of a large steel-frame detached house. The entire second floor was remodeled to convert the building into a separated two-family dwelling, with the parent household on the first floor and the child household on the second. A generous 40-tatami living‑dining‑kitchen (LDK) serves as the heart of daily life; rooms and wet areas are arranged in a string-like sequence along the window line, while a large pantry and a family closet are located in the centrally positioned area that lacks direct daylight. The plan emphasizes high permeability and circulation. The perimeter of the family closet is detailed as an indirectly lit corridor, introducing controlled lighting and visual rhythm to what would otherwise be an overly expansive volume.
Use / Detached single-family residence; Structural system / Steel-frame construction — second-floor portion of a two-story building; Area for unit-price calculation / 47 tsubo [155 m2]; Architectural design and supervision / Yoshihiro Yamamoto [yyaa]; Kitchen / KANWORKS; Lighting design / Shingo Ishido [DAIKO Osaka TACT]
