The site occupies a corner of a tranquil rural landscape. Rice fields stretch out to the south, with mountain ranges visible in the distance. We envisioned a generous roof form and sought to integrate it into the surrounding landscape. At the client’s request, a through earthen-floored passage was incorporated so that a small shop could be operated, creating a calm, gentle atmosphere in which the home feels like a shop and the shop feels like a home.
