Introducing Living with a Sauna and an Inner Courtyard, a custom-built home example by AITOHUS Co., Ltd., a Construction company in 6-6-1 Otsukanishi, Asaminami Ward, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan

This is the home of a family who decided to relocate so that their future life would become more fulfilling as their three children grow and their lifestyle changes.

The first thing that draws the eye is the built-in garage finished with robust Danish brick and a wooden overhead sliding door. Inside, storage space and ample room for two cars to be parked comfortably are provided.

At the center of the house there is a completely private courtyard (patio) that makes the most of the U-shaped plan. When relaxing in the living room, occupants can always view the gently moving planting, which provides a soothing effect.

As expressed by the saying "niwaya ichinyo" (garden and house as one), Japanese people have long valued and cherished architectural styles that integrate garden and house. Connecting to the garden not only creates a sense of openness indoors but also enables a rich way of life in which one can feel the seasons directly.

Also, opposite the living room is a sauna room; because it connects to the courtyard, the circulation for cooling down after a sauna session (outdoor cooling/exposure to outside air) is smooth. This circulation is actually very important for enjoying the sauna. Site area: 434.65 m² / 131.48 tsubo
