The site is located within a residential enclave set one lot back from a relatively new arterial road. Positioned at the end of a cul‑de‑sac, it occupies a somewhat high‑density context. A single‑storey house stood to the south, so, with an eye to the future, it was necessary to secure daylight from the east and by additional means.
Through repeated consultations, what remained in our impressions was a distinct sense of family cohesion — a spatial quality that felt appropriate for a configuration reminiscent of numbers linked within parentheses.
The shared family spaces — the entrance, the living–dining–kitchen (LDK) and the staircase — are unified by the warm materiality of red cedar. Each private room nestles alongside this enveloping space, allowing inhabitants to perceive the family's presence. The dwelling preserves privacy while enabling family interactions to be experienced as an ambient presence.
