The couple, previously residing in an urban area, discovered a plot of land in Kamakura—the place they had long wished to live—situated at a dead-end reached by traversing a narrow alleyway. The site is enveloped by lush greenery, offering vistas of mountains both to the north and south.
To fully embrace Kamakura’s rich natural environment, the design incorporates expansive, two-story-high windows oriented north and south. These allow not only the first-floor living, dining, and kitchen areas but also the second-floor bedrooms, connected via a double-height void, to enjoy uninterrupted views of the garden as well as the surrounding mountains and verdant landscape.
On the street-facing side, large windows are fitted with wooden lattice screens, while inside, double-layered curtains provide nuanced control over light and visibility. Additionally, the bedrooms feature dual-tone blackout curtains that double as partitions, enabling graduated privacy adjustments tailored to different occasions.
