Introducing House in Chiyozaki, a custom-built home example by Coo Planning, a Architect / Design office in 201, M'S Kyomachibori Building, 1-7-17 Kyomachibori, Nishi-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture

This is a private residence built in Nishi-ku, Osaka City. The two-story timber-framed house is organized as a skip-floor composition, creating a living volume that spans three vertical layers. The project site is located in an area where traditional factories and shopping streets still remain, alongside commercial developments such as the nearby Kyocera Dome and a large Aeon supermarket. The corner lot is a narrow, irregular parcel of 8 tsubo that was discovered in an advertisement and purchased on the spot.

After acquisition the client consulted with Coo Planning, expressing a desire for an inventive residence. Although the initial construction budget was somewhat constrained, through mutual consultation the team found solutions and the design process proceeded relatively smoothly. After exploring multiple options, this scheme was selected.

Structurally the building is a conventional timber-framed, two-story skip-floor. The total floor area, including the inner garage, is 41.94 m² (12.71 tsubo). The first-floor interior is given a generous 4.0 m ceiling height. The staircase leading upward is arranged to wrap around, connecting to the upper level via a mezzanine with a landing. The mezzanine accommodates the washbasin and bathroom wet areas, while the upper level contains the master bedroom and an adjoining roof terrace. Timber-framed two-story, skip-floor + rooftop
