Residence Living with Weeping Cherry Trees|Archiplace
This home for a three-generation family of five is located in a mountainous area of Hiroshima Prefecture, surrounded by gently rolling mountains and rural landscapes.
The garden is home to a large weeping cherry tree that has long been cherished not only by the family but also by people in the local community. When it blossoms around the time the snow melts, close friends and acquaintances gather to enjoy meals and conversation beneath the tree, often staying the night. This scene has been passed down here for many years.
In planning the new home, an important theme was how to live alongside this weeping cherry tree and carry it forward to the next generation while incorporating its presence into everyday life. The house was designed so that the cherry tree—which has watched the family grow, brought people together, and lived alongside changes in the community—will continue to remain at the center of daily life.
This home carries into the future a way of life unique to the region, deeply connected with nature and the activities of its people.
