- We, an Archi-Lab. (read "An Archi-Lab"), are a design office in which two architects, Tatsuya Adachi [a] and Dan Nabeshima [n], collaborate under the name "an"—signifying "one."
We read the character of a place and deliberately craft spaces for inhabitation. Using the elements of a site as clues, we converge those cues toward people. Our aim is "architecture that belongs to that place and invites people to stay."
To this end, we place great importance on conversation and dialogue, and on producing works rather than creating "art" in the detached sense.
Our stance is to embrace both outward-facing discourse and the attentive, nuanced dialogue that senses subtlety. Rather than an aesthetic that ignores users for the sake of spectacle, we pursue forms that are essentially and rationally beautiful.
On this basis, our office undertakes architectural design, design services, and construction supervision for projects irrespective of building use (detached houses, multi-family housing, commercial facilities, etc.), scale, or type of work (new construction, renovation, conversion, etc.).
