House with a Double-Height Void

A home with a void (atrium) creates an open feeling where light and sight lines expand vertically through spaces connecting multiple floors. Making the upper part of the living room a void infuses the family gathering spot with vast expanses and makes it easier to sense family members upstairs. Bringing in natural light through high windows or skylights and using beams or stairs as spatial accents crafts rich, three-dimensional expressions. Placing a study or hallway facing the void incorporates vertical connections into daily routines. We introduce void homes where light, vision, and family presence connect vertically.
