Homes Embracing Natural Light|Introduction to Architecture Firms|Light Transforms Space

Author: Qurasuki Editorial Department
The softness and rich chiaroscuro of natural light—qualities that artificial illumination cannot reproduce—fundamentally elevate the quality of a residence. Designing openings that respond to the sun’s path and seasonal shifts, employing skylights and light courts, and selecting materials that reflect or diffuse light are essential competencies for the architect. Equally important is resolving the trade-offs: mitigating intense direct sunlight, reducing summer heat gain, and ensuring privacy. Here we present an architectural practice that meticulously designs both the ingress of light and the expressive qualities of shadow.
