    Glass-Enclosed Residences

Follow your intuition to save photos that catch your eye. Explore spatial designs to uncover implicit preferences you haven't yet put into words.

A glass-walled home features expansive glass panels that invite light and panoramic views inside, creating exceptional depth and openness. Large openings onto gardens or terraces blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Watching shifting sunlight, rain, greenery, and sky becomes an integral part of your living scene. Overhanging eaves, plants, and curtains help maintain optimal sun control and privacy. Pairing transparent glass with warm wood or stone creates a balanced, serene lightness. We present glass-focused homes where interior and exterior seamlessly connect.

A jacuzzi adjoining the shallow pool terrace. Since each bedroom also has its own private bathroom, this bathroom is intended primarily for enjoying an open, expansive setting while wearing a swimsuit. The pool terrace, like a sheet of water, reflects the trees of the courtyard, while rippling reflections of light shimmer across the ceiling. It is a bathroom in the forest.

  • Circular Courtyard|Glass-Enclosed Residences|LDK|Custom-built house

This view shows how the earthen-floor lounge, entertainment space, dining area, and living room are integrated and connected while shifting in level like a subtle landform. The earthen-floor lounge is an open area reached by climbing the stairs from the parking area on the first floor. Because it is where the indoor circulation from the LDK to the large bathhouse intersects with the outdoor route leading to the courtyard, stepping-stone-like pathways of honed granite were created for walking without shoes.

  • Circular Courtyard|Glass-Enclosed Residences|LDK|Custom-built house

A living room with large openings that bring in panoramic views. Beyond the large opening to the north, the circular courtyard, the wooded cliffside, and distant mountain views unfold. Although the site is like a tray atop a small hill, a residential area spreads out immediately below. The planting and arbor were carefully positioned so that the surrounding houses cannot be seen from the courtyard or the LDK. Inside, subdued materials such as dark split-faced granite and walnut were selected, allowing the eye to be naturally drawn to the timber roof, which continues outward as a mono-pitched roof, and to the views through the large openings.

A swimming pool with sufficient depth for swimming and a shallow pool terrace extending from it. The pool is also connected to the indoor bar lounge. On the pool terrace, where the water is approximately 15 cm deep, furniture can be brought out so that one can enjoy reading with one’s feet immersed in the water. Located at the highest point of the site, the terrace also offers views of Mount Fuji in winter. It connects to the bathroom with a jacuzzi, creating a pool terrace where one can enjoy water in a variety of forms.

  • Circular Courtyard|Glass-Enclosed Residences|LDK|Custom-built house

A living-dining room that gently encloses the courtyard. The living room is a single, high-ceilinged space, with subtle zoning created by floor-level changes and furniture that gently emphasizes the courtyard’s topography. The large opening to the north blocks the intense sunlight while allowing the beautiful greenery, illuminated by the light, to be enjoyed. A swimming pool and flowing pond were placed along the edge of the woodland at the rear, which forms the other side enclosing the courtyard, gently surrounding a lawn where the children can run and play.
